Free Form Fibers has been selected by the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) for a direct-to-Phase II SBIR program to develop an architecture of selective materials, including Silicon Carbide, using Laser-driven Chemical Vapor Deposition, to create novel fiber arrays. Applications include thermal shock resistant components such as rocket nozzles, ballistic nosetips, and other structures where transpiration cooling can enable shape stability in extreme environments. This project will last for 24 months. Free Form Fibers has previously demonstrated related technical concepts which enable the production of scaled test articles.
